Heather Scott Scholarship Fund

In the summer of 2004 we lost a precious, devoted Band Member Alumni, Heather Scott. Heather graduated in 2002 and was an outstanding band member. She played Trombone, was a member of the National Honor Society, and a volunteer for the National Heart Association.

 

Heather attended IUPUI for Radiation Therapy and wanted nothing more than to help people. Her parents Connie and Larry were very active band boosters. Connie served as Vice President for three years and President for one year. Her sister Ashley was also a very devoted band member who graduated in 2004.

 

In dedication to this wonderful family, the Decatur Central Band Boosters would like to present the “Heather Scott Scholarship Fund”. Please note, Dollars for Scholars conducts an annual telephone fundraising campaign. The Heather Scott Scholarship Fund will be in addition to what you normally contribute to Dollars For Scholars. The DCHS Band Boosters would like to express their sincere gratitude to all who donate to this scholarship fund.

Qualifications

 

Heather Scott Scholarship will be in the amount of $800 to an individual that meets the following requirements:

 

  • The individual must be a current Senior member of the DCHS Band program that has displayed a positive attitude, strong leadership skills, and  involved in the community.

  • A letter of recommendation, a minimum 2.5 GPA, and PSAT/SAT/ACT scores are also required.

Varsity Tutors Scholarship Contest

Varsity Tutors hold a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship.
